Patricia Chen
AIA, LEED AP
Patricia is a registered architect in the State of New York, a member of the AIA, and a LEED Accredited Professional. She received her Bachelor of Science in Architecture from University of Virginia and Master of Architecture from Columbia University. Although Patty has worked on complex projects with large teams, her passion is residential design. The intimate scale of residential projects allows her to see a design through to every last detail. Highlighting the personality of the client in each design makes residential architecture all the more rewarding. At James Mohn Design Studio, Patty learned the idiosyncrasies of NYC residential projects. She thrives on keeping up to speed on the ever-evolving NYC Department of Buildings process.
Early in her career, she designed and oversaw the construction of the four hockey venues for the 2002 Winter Olympic Games in Salt Lake City. She oversaw the construction and operation of two venues for the 1996 Summer Olympic Games in Atlanta. Negotiating the International Olympic Committee’s high standards of excellence, a strict budget, and a deadline of an Olympic Opening Ceremonies for these large-scale, multifaceted projects sharpened Patty’s project management skills early on in her career.
Patty was a Principal at Holzman Moss Bottino Architecture. She has managed the execution of some of Holzman Moss Bottino’s most complicated projects.

Patty was a Senior Event Architect at Populous where she used her combined experience in building permanent architecture with her event operations experience. She worked exclusively on NFL projects, specifically the Super Bowl and the NFL Draft. She was the lead designer for Opening Night, the event that kicks off Super Bowl week each year.
Most recently, Patty has come back to designing the type of architecture she loves most - residential design. Crafting each residence to reflect the personality of each client makes each project special. In residential design, Patty is able to focus on all of the small details that together make stunning and functional architecture for each client.
